Undersecretary Manlio Di Stefano met today at the Foreign Ministry, together with Minister for Technological Innovation and Digitisation Paola Pisano, Algerian Minister in charge of Knowledge Economy and Start-ups Yacine El-Mahdi Oualid and Algerian Minister in charge of Microenterprises Nassim Diafat.
The meeting was a valuable opportunity to strengthen bilateral cooperation in the field of technological and digital innovation.
Recalling his mission in Algeria, the last one before the outbreak of Covid-19 emergency, the Undersecretary valorised the already solid economic relations between Italy and Algeria, which make Algiers the first commercial partner of Italy in the MENA region, also pointing out that it is “time to push ourselves towards new frontiers, taking advantage of the opportunity offered by new technologies”.
During the meeting, new initiatives and projects aimed at strengthening cooperation in the field of start-ups and digital innovation were also discussed.
“I am deeply convinced that our future will depend largely on the virtuous use we make of technological innovation in a way that is as open and cooperative as possible” – the Undersecretary affirmed in his closing remarks.
