Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani attended, on the afternoon of 31 May, the finish of the final stage of the Giro d’Italia in Rome this afternoon and the awards ceremony.

Minister Tajani said: “The Giro d’Italia brings the best image of our country to the world. Each stage portrays an Italy of sporting excellence, extraordinary regions, innovative companies, and communities capable of looking to the future. This is the value of sports diplomacy, i.e. turning a major competition into an opportunity for the economic, cultural, and international promotion of the Italian system.”

RCS Giro d’Italia was named “Ambassador of Sports Diplomacy” by Minister Tajani in March 2024. Last May, Minister Tajani also awarded the same recognition to champion Vincenzo Nibali.

This is the context for the fourth annual collaboration between ITA and RCS Sport, aimed at promoting Made in Italy products along the Giro d’Italia route through initiatives dedicated to promoting the country’s economic, cultural, and regional excellence.

On the occasion of the start of the Giro d’Italia in Bulgaria, the Foreign Ministry also organized the event “Galleria dell’ExSport“, an immersive travelling museum dedicated to Italian sporting and manufacturing excellence. The museum also featured cycling-related content created with the support of RCS, the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, and L’Eroica.
