Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani will be in Dubrovnik this evening and tomorrow to take part in the 20th edition of the Dubrovnik Forum, the annual international conference organised by Croatia and dedicated to key regional, European and global issues.

The Forum is a key event in the debate on the main geopolitical challenges and will attract a high level of political and institutional participation. Minister Tajani will speak at the main panel, dedicated to the theme “The Age of Multipolarity: Navigating New Realities”, alongside Croatian Prime Minister Andrej Plenković, the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, Alain Berset, and the Secretary General of the OSCE, Feridun H. Sinirlioğlu.

In his speech, he will reiterate the need to strengthen dialogue and cooperation in order to tackle the challenges of the international context, reaffirming Italy’s support for the European integration of the Western Balkans and the strategic role of the Mediterranean as a bridge between Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

During the mission, the Minister will also take part in the ministerial meeting of the MED9 countries, organised by Croatia as rotating Presidency. The discussions will focus on strengthening the European Union’s partnership with its southern neighbourhood, not least in light of developments in the Middle East. The Minister will reiterate the need for an integrated approach that strengthens cooperation in the fields of energy, research and innovation, the management of migration flows, and sustainable development in the Mediterranean. Tajani will also emphasise the importance of ensuring the security of trade routes and developing strategic connectivity corridors, starting with the IMEC and the Arctic route, whilst strengthening political dialogue between the European Union and its southern neighbourhood partners, including by making use of the instruments available to the EU and, in particular, the Pact for the Mediterranean.
