The Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs, Edmondo Cirielli, took part in the panel “Science Between Diplomacy and Territorial Development – Southern Italy as a Euro-Mediterranean Hub” at the SparkMe Academy in Matera. There, the National Institute for Astrophysics (INAF) organized an interactive tour dedicated to space observation, large ground-based and satellite telescopes, and Italy’s experience in astrophysical research.
Deputy Minister Cirielli emphasized: “Space and science diplomacy is increasingly important in the international projection of Italy and its regions. The Government supports and works closely with local authorities, companies, and the research community to promote the internationalization of the Italian aerospace industry. I am certain that bringing this exhibition to Matera is a valuable opportunity for this region and for the entire Southern Italy, which, with Basilicata, Campania, and Puglia, is home to some of the most advanced and promising space districts in Italy.”
