The Conference of the Directors of Italian Cultural Institutes, organized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, kicks off this evening in Verona. Following previous editions (Naples 2022, Florence 2023, Matera 2024, Macerata-Recanati 2025), this year’s event brings together representatives of the network of Italian Cultural Institutes until July 23 to define the priorities of Italian cultural diplomacy and strengthen the connection between the network of Italian Cultural Institutes and the cultural and institutional excellence of the Verona area.
The Conference will end on Thursday, July 23, with the institutional session, which will feature speakers ranging from Foreign Minister Antonio Tajani and Minister of Tourism Gianmarco Mazzi. The meeting will conclude a series of workshops dedicated to the role of culture as a tool for international dialogue, the promotion of the Italian system, and support for growth diplomacy.
The network of Italian Cultural Institutes currently comprises 88 Institutes in 63 countries and is the Foreign Ministry’s main tool for promoting the Italian language and culture worldwide. Each year, the Institutes organize over 5,000 events, including exhibitions, concerts, film festivals, performances, meetings, and initiatives dedicated to contemporary Italian art and cultural heritage, thanks to a public investment of approximately €24 million. Their work is supported by approximately 200 cultural promotion officials, who are committed – in Italy and abroad – to promoting Italy’s cultural excellence and strengthening ties with international audiences and Italian communities worldwide.
