‘Taranta Gitana,’ the show organised by the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid and presented on 21 July 2026 as part of Veranos de la Villa—the city of Madrid’s main summer festival—concluded with great success.

For the first time in Spain, the Italian Tarantella and the Gypsy Flamenco Rumba shared the same stage, giving rise to a project that engaged the audience through music, dance, and collective participation.

Performances took place in the courtyard of the Condeduque Madrid by the Italian Popular Orchestra of Rome’s Auditorium Parco della Musica, conducted by Ambrogio Sparagna; Gipsy Legend by Tony Cortes – a Gipsy Kings tribute featuring Amalia; and the dance troupe led by ethno-choreographer Francesca Trenta.

The dance ensemble was formed during the Italian folk dance workshops organised by the Institute on 20 July and led by Francesca Trenta, with the participation of dancers from various schools in Madrid, who later took the stage alongside professional artists.

With ‘Taranta Gitana,’ the Italian Cultural Institute of Madrid reaffirms its role in promoting cultural dialogue between Italy and Spain, showcasing Italian heritage through contemporary forms of expression and international artistic collaborations.
