Italy will be the guest of honour at the 71st Madrid Book Fair, which will take place from 25 May to 10 June 2012. The announcement was made by the Italian Embassy in Spain. The Embassy and the Italian Cultural Institute in Madrid will help organise a programme of events at the institutional and cultural levels to run alongside the Fair.
THe cultural activities at the Fair in Madrid will be opened by Claudio Magris. The novelist, translator and poet Erri De Luca, and the writer and publisher Roberto Calasso, will also be taking part. The full programme for the Madrid Book Fair will be published in April.
Spain, in turn, will be guest of honour at this year’s Turin Book Fair.
