A visit to Naples by 106 ambassadors accredited to Italy begins today. The visit has been organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in collaboration with the Neapolis 2500 National Committee as part of the celebrations marking the 2,500th anniversary of the city’s foundation.

The initiative forms part of the growth diplomacy strategy, aimed at promoting the internationalisation of Campania’s manufacturing sector, facilitating businesses’ access to foreign markets and creating new opportunities for commercial, industrial and technological collaboration. Through the direct involvement of the Ambassadors, the aim is to harness the region’s economic potential and facilitate the establishment of contacts, partnerships and investment opportunities with their respective countries.

The programme includes a meeting at Unione Industriali Napoli, dedicated to the presentation of leading companies in the railway, agri-food, pharmaceutical and logistics sectors, as well as visits to SEDA and Kiton, which represent the very best in industrial production and ‘Made in Italy’. There was also a focus on innovation and research, with a visit to the technology hub at the University of Naples Federico II and the Apple Developer Academy, to explore in greater depth the contribution of training, digital skills and new technologies to the competitiveness of Campania’s manufacturing sector.

The programme also includes a session dedicated to sports diplomacy, featuring Luna Rossa’s CEO, Max Sirena, and the President of the Italian Sailing Federation, Francesco Ettorre, to explore the opportunities for international promotion and economic development linked to sailing and the America’s Cup in Naples.

Finally, the Ambassadors will visit the National Archaeological Museum of Naples (Museo Archeologico Nazionale di Napoli, MANN), which is undergoing refurbishment work funded through the PNRR; they will attend the premiere of Boléro at the San Carlo Theatre; and they will have the opportunity to explore the Villa of Poppea in Oplontis.

Through this visit, the celebrations marking Naples’ 2,500th anniversary provide an opportunity to showcase to the international diplomatic community a region where cultural heritage, manufacturing tradition, industrial capacity and innovation come together, thereby strengthening Italy’s international profile and promoting investment opportunities and partnerships with foreign markets.
