Press Accreditation Notice – 2018 Africa Day (Farnesina, 24 May 2018)

The 2018 Africa Day will be celebrated at the Farnesina on 24 May 2018, on the 50th anniversary of the foundation of the Organisation of African Unity (OAU).

The General Manager for Globalisation and Global Matters of the Farnesina, Massimo Gaiani, will open the event and read an introductory message from the Italian President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. Following the opening remarks, contributions will be delivered by Vice Minister Mario Giro; the Ambassador of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Albert Felha Tshiseleka, representing the African Diplomatic Body; and the wife of Ghana’s Vice President, Samira Bawumia.

The celebration will end with remarks by the Ambassador of the Republic of South Africa, Shirish Manaklal.

Journalists, photographers and TV crews interested in following the opening session are requested to apply for accreditation by sending an email to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation’s Institutional Press and Communication Service at: accreditamentostampa@esteri.it, (tel.  06/3691.3432-8573-8210), attaching the letter of their media organisation (or press card for journalists) and, for members of the foreign press, a Note Verbale released by the Rome Embassy of the media organisation’s country.

Accreditation badges may be collected in person from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, at the central entrance – left-hand side – from 2 p.m. to 2:15 p.m.
