At the end of today’s meeting during the visit of the Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mammadyarov to Italy, Minister Alfano informed him of the decision of the T.A.R. (Regional Administrative Tribunal) of Lazio which, by rejecting the appeal lodged by the Regional Authorities of Apulia, authorised the continuation of the work on the TAP gas pipeline, in which the Italian company SNAM holds a 20% stake.
The gas pipeline, which the Italian Government considers to be a strategic infrastructure for the diversification of energy supplies, will carry gas from the Caspian Sea to the Italian market. Minister Alfano reaffirmed the Italian Government’s firm determination to complete this strategic work for Italy’s energy security.
