Italian writer Alessandro Baricco will be a special guest at the 19th edition of the Italian Language Week in the World. At the invitation of the Italian Embassy and Cultural Institute in Jakarta, on 22 October, Baricco will hold a lecture at the Faculty of Humanities of the Universitas Indonesia entitled: “A certain idea of the world: five books that have taken me here”.
Moreover, from 24 to 27 October, Baricco will also attend the meetings organised for the 16th edition of the Ubud Writers & Readers Festival held in the city of Ubud-Bali. Over the years, the Ubud Festival, which hosts more than 150 guests, including writers, artists and performers from 30 Countries, has become one of the Country’s most popular cultural attractions and was ranked by The Telegraph UK among the five leading international literary festivals in 2019.
This year’s edition aims to especially explore, through literature but also through visual arts, the theme of the consequences that our individual and/or collective actions can produce on the social and natural environment surrounding us: from climate change to the responsible participation of intellectuals and artists towards building a better and shared future.
