Enrico Ianniello and the Teatri Riuniti Theatre Company in Seoul for the 19th Italian Language Week in the World

Italian actor and director Enrico Ianniello and the Teatri Riuniti Theatre Company of Naples took centre stage at the 19th edition of the Italian Language Week in Korea promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul with the support of the Italian Embassy.

Ianniello’s performance at the Ilshin Hall in Seoul on 24 October consisted of a reading from his successful book “La vita prodigiosa di Isidoro Sifflotin”. The performance, produced by the Teatri Riuniti Theatre Company of Naples, was organised by the Italian Cultural Institute in partnership with the novel’s Korean publisher and translator, Professor Choi Jung Yun from the Korean University of Foreign Studies.

The docufilm “Il teatro al lavoro” (“The Theatre at Work”), directed by Massimiliano Pacifico and featuring Toni Servillo, art director of Teatri Uniti, was screened at the CGV Myeong-dong of Seoul on 24 October. From 23 to 26 October, the Italian Cultural Institute staged the “Triptych” by Giacomo Puccini (Il Tabarro, Suor Angelica, Gianni Schicchi), directed by Paolo Panizza, at the Grand Theatre of the Seoul National University with the participation of the University’s students of opera singing.

The second part of the Italian Language Week will take place from 30 October to 1 November and focus on the students of Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. It will consist of several lectures on the relationship between the Italian language and the theatre held by the Director of the Italian Cultural Institute in Seoul, Paola Ciccolella, by Prof. Andrea Paciotto from the Seoul Institute of the Arts and by Prof. Marta Zimbardo from the Hankuk University of Foreign Studies. On that occasion, a contest will be launched to award a prize for the best research paper on Italian theatre.
