Vincenzo Amendola, Italian Undersecretary for Foreign Affairs, met with Serbian Prime Minister, Aleksandar Vucic, along with the Speaker of the House Maja Gojkovic and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ivica Dacic, to discuss a wide range of issues that included economic growth, control of migration flows and security. “This visit is the first of the “Italian Presidency” of the Western Balkans Summit, which our country will be hosting in 2017″, said the Undersecretary. He reiterated Italy’s commitment to EU integration of the Balkans and the strengthening of regional cooperation.The meetings confirmed the excellent status of our bilateral relations. Mr Amendola pointed out that “Italy is Serbia’s main investor and commercial partner”.
The Undersecretary added, “We want to continue to be among the closest supporters of your Country”. Undersecretary Amendola also took part in a ceremony for the completion of post flood works in four municipalities of the Country: “Thanks to Italian Development Cooperation and to our Embassy in Belgrade, we have successfully provided concrete support to the communities devastated by the 2014 floods, hence demonstrating once again how close we are to the Serbian people”. Finally, Mr Amendola met with the Italian entrepreneurs operating in Serbia, a numerous and crucially important community that is seizing the opportunities for growth that the Balkan Country offers, especially in terms of access to new markets.
