The Italian Cultural Institute (IIC) in Prague will be hosting till February 28, 2017, “The World of Outsiders” a photographic exhibition by Pavel Konecny, a Czech collector of Art brut. The exhibition features 10 Italian marginal artists and their works that Mr Konecny photographed during his several journeys to Italy from 2011 to 2015. “The World of Outsiders” constitutes a direct figurative evidence of the artist’s visits to gardens, courtyards, apartments and creative spaces that faithfully represent the troubled lives of these artists, their memories, imaginations, dreams and aspirations. All of this is expressed through a very specific artistic language with works that are sometimes defined as the periphery of architecture, sculpture or painting, but always born out of pathos and poetry.
Konecny’s photographs, in addition to taking an iconographic message of unknown Italian places to Bohemia, document the uniqueness and originality of the creations of these spontaneous artists. They also contribute to hone the attention of the public on a special example of human creativity that risks being forgotten if not disappearing altogether.
