Slovenia – Italian Cultural Institute hosts On the Wings of the Bora

The Italian Cultural Institute in Slovenia organised the exhibition entitled ‘Sulle ali della bora: viaggio al cospetto del drago’ (“On the Wings of the Bora: a Journey before the Dragon”) in conjunction with the University of Trieste. The exhibition displays images of corners of Trieste and other coastal cities which were under the rule of the Republic of San Marco for centuries. It is a journey across time and space to reproduce and interpret the panoramas, the cities, hamlets, and the historic landmarks. The themes chosen by the artist, Leonardo Bellaspiga, span from the filigree of the Venetian steeples to the magnificence of Roman ruins, from the fragrance of the wind-swept sea to the stone-hewn homes of the hinterland. This traveling exhibition was set up by curator Ariella Petelin and presented in several locations in Italy, Montenegro and along the Slovenian coast and has the benefit of being a continuous work-in-progress because it is gradually enriched with works linked to the places that host it. The yet unpublished drawings in Indian ink specifically dedicated to the Slovenian capital will be on show in Ljubljana until 3 February.
