The Italian Consul in Basel, Michele Camerota, expressed “gratitude and appreciation for the sensitivity shown by the world-renowned Italian musician, Daniela Dolci, who leads the Musica Fiorita Ensemble and has been living in Basel during the last 25 years. She unhesitatingly accepted the proposal to devolve the proceeds of the concert ‘Fiamma vorace’, dedicated to Italian Baroque composer Geminiano Giacomelli (1692-1740), to the Ministry of Cultural Heritage to repair the damage to the artistic heritage of the areas of Central Italy struck by the powerful earthquake, which has taken on dramatic proportions,” reads a note posted by the Italian Consulate in Basel. The note continues: “More details will be provided as soon as they are made available, as we are convinced that the priority right now is to enable rescuers to work to save all those who could still be trapped under the rubble. In Italy, Minister Franceschini announced that the proceeds of State museums and archaeological sites of next Sunday, 28 August, will be earmarked for interventions on the cultural heritage assets damaged by the quake, calling on all Italians to go to the museum as a sign of solidarity with the people affected.” The concert of the Musica Fiorita Ensemble is scheduled at 6 p.m. on 26 August at the Wildt’sches Haus in Basel. The Consulate’s note concludes as follows: “We take this opportunity to thank the Swiss Authorities for the solidarity shown and for the immediate offer of help made to the Italian Government.”
