Italy strengthens cooperation with Caricom

Italy has strengthened cooperation with the Caribbean Community (Caricom). In the margins of the recent COP21 in Paris, the foreign ministry’s special envoy for the Caribbean Paolo Serpi joined Caricom secretary general Irwin LaRocque in signing the renewal of a memorandum of cooperation between Italy and that organisation, which had expired in 2014 and was renegotiated over recent months. The framework agreement concerns Italian development and scientific cooperation projects, study bursaries, climate change, cultural treasures, natural disaster prevention, the fight against organised crime, food security and other sectors.
