“Little Sara Ammar and her mother finally arrived in Italy this morning with the assistance of the Ambassador of Italy”, reported Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni. His comment concerned the positive settlement of the case of minor child Sara Ammar, who had been abducted by her Egyptian national father in January 2010, taken to Egypt and since then unable to be contacted.
“This is a happy ending to an affair that the government has been following with the greatest attention; the Farnesina worked intensively toward achieving this outcome’, the minister said, adding that “in May, the case was also the subject of intervention by President of the Republic Mattarella”.
“I wish to thank the Egyptian authorities for their commitment at all levels, which made it possible to implement a ruling that granted custody of the child to her mother”, Gentiloni concluded.
