The participants of the “Climate Rally” initiative are in Italy. Twenty young people from Italy, Austria and Germany travelled by bicycle from Munich to Milan. They left on 17 September and arrived in Milan on 25 September. A feat was performed in view of the COP26 climate conference.
Enrico De Agostini, Consul General of Italy in Munich, and his British counterpart Simon Kendall took part in the bike ride.
Organised by the Youth Climate Conference (LCOY), within the framework of the “Youth4Climate” and Pre-COP26 youth conference in Milan, “Climate Rally” aimed at raising awareness among young people – but not only – about climate protection and sustainability issues; in particular, about sustainable mobility. The event was supported by the Embassies of Italy and the United Kingdom in Germany and sponsored by ENIT.
The Italian Ambassador in Berlin, Armando Varricchio, following the stages of the ‘rally’, very successful on social media, said that the initiative fits in with the context of the Italian roadmap of innovation, sustainability, and green economic recovery. “In 2021, as the G20 Presidency and the UK’s partner for COP26, Italy – concluded Ambassador Varricchio – is working hard towards the goal framed in the motto “People, Planet and Prosperity”.
