Poland: Run on Together

The friendship between Italy and Poland goes on running! This is the slogan that the Italian Embassy in Warsaw wanted to launch with the running event “Run on Together”, scheduled for Sunday, September 12 from 11 am at Kempa Potocka Park in the capital. It will be an innovative and unprecedented event, conceived by the Italian Diplomatic Representation to celebrate the deep and historical Italian-Polish friendship. At the same time, it will be the opportunity to launch a message of hope and optimism after more than a year marked by the pandemic.
“COVID-19 has severely challenged our societies, causing severe suffering and forcing governments to adopt significant restrictive measures to contain the spread of the pandemic. It has been, and continues to be, an incredible challenge that our citizens are facing with great courage, dignity and citizenship,” said Ambassador Aldo Amati.
“On the other hand, the COVID-19 emergency – continued the Head of the Diplomatic Representation – has also strengthened the traditional Italian-Polish friendship, with unforgettable gestures of solidarity, especially in the most dramatic months. With Sunday’s event, we, therefore, want to pay tribute to this historic friendship of ours and at the same time send out a message of optimism. It is no coincidence that the event has been named ‘Run on Together’, precisely to convey the idea of two countries that want to move on, ‘running’ together out of the pandemic”.
The race will also be associated with a charity initiative favouring the ‘Paluch’ animal shelter. All proceeds from the registration fees for the race will be donated. In addition to the Municipality of Warsaw, large Italian companies such as Ferrero Polska, Generali Polska, Banca Intesa and Leonardo Polska will support this beautiful day of sport and solidarity. The Italian National Tourist Board (ENIT), which sponsors the initiative with the Italian Ministry of Tourism, will also be present. The organisation of the event is the Warsaw Marathon Foundation. “The public response to our initiative has been extraordinary, with registrations – over 500 – already sold out. There will also be plenty of space for families, and especially for children, thanks to the dedicated area set up by Ferrero as part of their corporate social responsibility programme called Kinder Joy of Moving. So we look forward to seeing you there, runners and non-runners alike,” concluded the Ambassador.
