“Italy endorses the United Nations appeal to the various Libyan parties not to engage in new conflict”. This was Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Paolo Gentiloni’s statement after a meeting with UN Special Envoy Bernardino Leon and after today’s meeting at the Farnesina with Italian ambassador Giuseppe Buccino.
“Repeated military ground and air strikes threaten to jeopardise the meeting to launch a national reconciliation process that the UN envoy is organising for 8 January”, Gentiloni concluded.
