The International Agricultural Fair opened in Novi Sad its 86th edition of which Italy is the Partner Country. The event marks the 140th anniversary of diplomatic relations and 10 years of strategic partnership between Rome and Belgrade. The Italian Pavilion, which was inaugurated by the Undersecretary for Agricultural, Food, Forestry Policies and Tourism, Franco Manzato, together with Carlo Lo Cascio, Italian Ambassador to Serbia, showcases 30 Italian companies, the Region Veneto and the Verona Fair.
The Fair runs until 17 May and includes several events such as four seminars with the participation of Italian organizations and businesses (including the seminar promoted by the Italian Trade Agency – ICE, entitled ‘Innovative Technologies in Agriculture’), as well as dozens of B2B meetings.
The Novi Sad International Agricultural Fair 2019 represents one of the most important events in Italy’s economic programme in Serbia for the current year. In 2018, trade between the two countries reached a record figure of 4.04 billion Euros and Italy consolidated its position as Serbia’s second trading partner, ranking first as importing country and second as exporting country. Agribusiness is considered to be one of the most important strategic sectors for economic development in Serbia.
Over the last six years, Italy has participated in numerous administrative twinning programmes funded by the EU and led by Italian Ministry of Agricultural, Food and Forestry Policies and Tourism (MIPAAFT).
