Italian Ambassador Luigi Mattiolo participated in the opening of the Hannover Messe, the leading world fair on industrial automation, robotics and technologies for energy systems and for the environment, with almost 6,500 exhibitors, 220,000 visitors and more than 1,400 events. Italy, which has always participated in the Fair ever since it was opened in 1947, this year is the third-largest exhibiting Country after Germany and China.
The Embassy has been supporting the Italian Chamber of Commerce in organising a business event on the fringes of the Fair since 2017 and this year’s event will be attended by the Regional Councillor for Economic Development of Piedmont, Giuseppina De Santis, and by David Vannozzi, Director General of CINECA – the consortium of 67 Italian universities and nine national research agencies and Italy’s largest Big Data Centre – as well as by Pierpaolo Antonioli, CEO of General Motors Global Propulsion Systems, and the President of CEIP (Piedmont Internationalisation Centre).
This year, the leading theme of the Fair was “Industry 4.0 meets Artificial Intelligence”, a topic that, in the three-day event, will be discussed in more than 1,200 seminars and workshops on the interaction between artificial intelligence, automation, the Internet of Things, and logistic platforms.
Hannover Messe stands out for its growing focus on Industry 4.0, a multi-stakeholder dialogue platform involving trade associations, research agencies, trade unions and single companies that is promoted by the German Government since 2015.
