Foreign Minister Federica Mogherini has sent her best wishes to the new President of the Republic of Egypt, Abdel Fattah El Sisi, for the task that awaits him.
“I hope that the conclusion of the electoral process will mark the ending of the long and delicate transition and the opening of a new period of political, social and economic development. A period of stability and security, in an inclusive framework where the full respect for human rights and the fundamental freedoms, as recognised by the new Constitution, is guaranteed”, said Minister Mogherini.
“Italy considers Egypt as a strategic partner in tackling shared challenges in the region and is ready to renew the deep friendship that has always acted as a bond between our two countries”, she assured the new President.
