The signing ceremony of the “Protocol of Action for the Security of Cooperation Operators” between the Foreign Ministry (DGCS – Directorate-General for Development Cooperation, DGIT – Directorate General for Italian Citizens Abroad and Migration, and Secretariat-General -Crisis Unit), AICS (the Italian Agency for Cooperation and Development) and the networks of the civil society organisations AOI (Italian East Africa), CINI , and LINK2007 took place yesterday in the presence of Deputy Minister Marina Sereni. The signing of this protocol updates the previous document “Principles for a collaboration in the field of security” signed in September 2015 by the Crisis Unit and the OSC networks AOI, CINI and Link 2007, and is the result of joint work by all the signatories and the expression of the constant dialogue between the CSOs and the Foreign Ministry on the subject of security. Attached to the Protocol is the “Vademecum for the Security of Cooperation Operators”, which provides a quick overview of security issues, providing suggestions and indications that CSOs will use as a basis for updating, adapting or integrating their own protection and security procedures already adopted within their organisations.
The signing took place on the sidelines of the third meeting of the civil society coordinating body for Afghanistan.
