A press conference presenting the second edition of the National Development Cooperation Conference, COOPERA 2022, was held on Tuesday 7 June at 10:30 in the Farnesina’s Aldo Moro Room. The conference itself will take place on 23-24 June in the Auditorium della Conciliazione in Rome.
The press conference was opened by the Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Marina Sereni. Her presentation was followed by those of the Director General for Development Cooperation, Fabio Cassese, and the Director of the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation, Luca Maestripieri.
Opening the press conference, Deputy Minister Sereni stated that “COOPERA will be a key opportunity to raise awareness of the work taken forward by the Italian cooperation system. It will also be an opportunity for discussion by all those involved in development to establish cooperation priorities and tackle global challenges together. We are all aware that the war in Ukraine has not cancelled out the world’s other, and still ongoing, crises. For that reason we need to gather all of the efforts to address these emergencies together in the political agenda. COOPERA is therefore a time to attract the attention of public opinion to these issues, which concern each and every one of us. We are counting on the participation of all, starting with the media and the new generations”.
COOPERA will be an important opportunity for all those operating in the Italian Cooperation System to meet and discuss the greatest global challenges. It will spotlight the five “Ps” of the 2030 Agenda: People, Planet, Prosperity, Peace and Partnership. It will also highlight the commitment of all those in Italy who are working to bring humanitarian assistance to those affected by global emergencies and crises, foster sustainable development, strengthen the role of local communities in cooperation processes, safeguard the rights and opportunities of women and young people in the lowest income countries, and support efforts for peace and justice.
In view of the national importance of COOPERA and the issues that will be addressed during the two days of the event, a partnership has been established with RAI Radio Televisione Italiana to produce TV and radio ads and promote the conference.
COOPERA 2022 will be open to the public. To take part, please register on the official site https://www.conferenzacoopera.it/
