Deputy Minister Dassù visits Trieste and Zadar

Deputy Foreign Minister Dassù is attending the Conference on “Connecting Macro-regions: Strengthening Economic and Institutional Cooperation on the Eve of the New Regional Policy of the European Union”. The conference is being held at the Palazzo della Regione in Trieste today, 11 October 2013.


The event was organised by the Autonomous Region of Friuli Venezia Giulia and by the Central European Initiative (CEI) Forum, in cooperation with the Foreign Ministry. Its aim is to reinvigorate the debate on the European Union’s macro-regions strategy, with the focus on the Danube and Adriatic-Ionian regions.


Opening the conference are the Mayor of Trieste, Roberto Cosolini; the Secretary General of the CEI, Ambassador Giovanni Caracciolo; and the President of Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Debora Serracchiani. Other speakers, in addition to Deputy Minister Dassù, are the Minister for Cohesion, Carlo Triglia, and the Deputy President of the European Union’s Committee of the Regions, Mercedes Bresso.


After the conference, the Deputy Minister will visit Zadar to open the Italian “Pinocchio” nursery. The opening ceremony, on Saturday 12 October, will be attended by representatives of the exiles’ associations and of Veneto Region and Zadar city council.
