“Italy’s immediate and proactive solidarity to Croatia affected by the earthquake that has caused extensive damage and loss of life in the country” – the Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation, Emanuela Del Re, said. According to Article 29 of Legislative Decree 1/2018, the Vice Minister asked the Head of the Civil Protection Department to activate the procedures for the “deliberation of the state of emergency for intervention abroad”, thus allowing for the humanitarian intervention immediately arranged by the Department. “At the same time” – the Vice Minister underlined – “a wave of solidarity with Croatia has also been immediately activated throughout Italy, with the participation of the Defence, Civil Society Organisations, local authorities and dioceses.”
“In tragic circumstances that affect a neighbouring people to whom we are united by deep ties shaped by history and geography, once again the Italian network of international cooperation and solidarity has responded promptly,” – Vice Minister Del Re underlined -. “In this challenging moment, the Croatian people can count on Italy and our substantial participation in the urgent relief and assistance operations for the civilian populations affected”.
