On 16 June, at Athen’s Kolonos Theatre, Greek singer Vassiliki Karakosta and Italian musician Simone Campa will engage in a special musical dialogue between Italy and Greece to prove the indissoluble cultural ties between the two Countries.
The program has been exclusively designed for this summer concert and includes pieces from both Countries’ musical traditions in addition to some contemporary melodies. The event is promoted by the Italian Cultural Institute in Athens in partnership with the Municipality of Athens – OPANDA, as part of the long-standing and fruitful cooperation between the two institutions. The two performers, Vassiliki Karakosta and Simone Campa, share a love for music and tradition and intend to provide the Athens public with an unprecedented experience.
The concert’s program includes melodies and arias from the Italian and Greek tradition as well as dances such as the Aegean Dances and the Tarantella, which will be performed by Apulian dancer Maristella Martella. The band accompanying the artists will be playing instruments from the popular music traditions of Greece and the South of Italy. The event is sponsored by the Italian Embassy in Athens as part of the “Tempo Forte between Greece and Italy” initiative.
