The foreign ministry is monitoring reports of an armed Ethiopian attack on Eritrean soil with deep concern, and firmly condemns all recourse to violence as a means for resolving disputes.
Italy has launched a strong appeal to the parties concerned to abstain from the further use of measures that violate the fundamental principles of international coexistence and, in unison with other European Union members, expressed the hope in the international community’s fostering of full implementation of the Algiers Accord and in the normalization of bilateral relations between Ethiopia and Eritrea, an essential prerequisite for regional stability.
