The Italian Embassy to the Holy See promoted a meeting called “L’Europa e la guerra. Dallo spirito di Helsinki alle prospettive di pace” [Europe and war. From the spirit of Helsinki to prospects for peace] to discuss concrete and viable ways to give new space to dialogue in the face of the war in Ukraine. A useful opportunity also to keep in mind the importance of building a new and more just system of international relations.
The event, held a few days ago at Palazzo Borromeo, where the Embassy is located, was organized together with the Limes magazine and the Vatican Media.
The meeting was opened by Ambassador Francesco Di Nitto. Speakers included Cardinal Pietro Parolin, Secretary of State of His Holiness; Matteo Luigi Napolitano, from the University of Molise; Andrea Riccardi, historian and founder of the Community of Sant’Egidio; and Claudio Descalzi, ENI CEO and professor Maria Lugato from the Libera Università Maria SS. Assunta (LUMSA).
