Minister Plenipotentiary Alessandro De Pedys
He graduated with honours in International Economics from the ‘La Sapienza’ University of Rome. In 1989 he began his diplomatic career at the Directorate General for Political Affairs of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and then he served as Head of the Secretariat of the Service for Legal Affairs, Diplomatic Disputes and International Agreements.
In 1992 he was assigned to the Embassy of Italy in Seoul, where he served as Commercial Secretary until 1996, when he was appointed Counselor for Political and Press Affairs at the Italian Embassy in London.
In 2000 he returned to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where he served for two years in the Institutional Press and Communication Service as Head of the Foreign Press Office. In 2002 he was appointed Deputy Head of the Delegation for the Organisation of the Italian Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
From 2004 to 2007 he was assigned to the Diplomatic Affairs Office of the Presidency of the Republic.
In 2007 he became Consul General in Hong Kong and Macau, a position he held for three years.
In 2010 he returned to the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, serving as Head of the Special Secretariat of the Undersecretary of State and then of the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs.
From 2014 to 2018 he was Ambassador of Italy to the Republic of Poland.
From 2018 to 2020 he was Diplomatic Advisor to the Italian Minister of Economy and Finance.
From February 2020 to July 2021 he served as Head of International Relations of Leonardo SpA.
From January 2021 he was appointed Deputy Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy at the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation.
From 1 June 2023 he is Director General for Public and Cultural Diplomacy.
