
Director General Nicandro Cascardi
Born in Venafro (IS) on October 7, 1959.
After his International Bachelor’s Degree from the United World College of the Atlantic in Great Britain, he graduated in Political Science from the University of Naples in 1985 and joined the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in 1989.
He was appointed Deputy Inspector in the administrative management career and, after an initial assignment at the General Directorate of Staff and Administration, he was assigned to the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Political Affairs.
In 1994 he was assigned to Toronto, where he served as Deputy Administrative Commissioner of the Consulate General, accredited as Vice Consul.
In 2000 he was appointed Manager of the Administrative Managers profile, acting as Ministerial Advisor, with a managerial role in consulting, research, and legal studies at the General Directorate of Staff.
He became a second-tier administrative manager in 2001 and was appointed Office Head at the Directorate General of Administrative Affairs, Budget, and Assets.
As of 2003 he served as an Administrative Expert, accredited as Counsellor, at the Embassy of Italy in Buenos Aires, also responsible for Bolivia, Chile, Paraguay, and Uruguay.
As of 2007 he served as First Class Consul and later an Administrative Expert at the Embassy of Italy in Bern, also responsible for Austria, Hungary, and Slovenia.
In 2010 he was appointed Deputy Director General for Resources and Innovation / Central Director for Staff Administrative Matters.
As of 2013 he served as Ministerial Advisor, with a senior management role in consulting, research, and studies, at the Directorate General for Resources and Innovation.
As of August 1, 2017 he served as Director General for Administration, Information Technology, and Communications and was confirmed as Senior Administrative Manager in 2018.
Since January 1, 2026, he has been Director General for Assets and Administration.
He was awarded the Order of Merit of the Republic of Italy, 2022.
