Italy confirmed its role as Egypt’s top economic-trade partner. After the successes of Ansaldo (€245 million in contracts for an electrical power plant) and Technimont ($520 million in contracts for the construction of a fertiliser plant in Aswan), the Danieli firm signed a contract for €50 million for the construction of a “greenfield” steel working plant in Beni Suef. A contract was also signed for a 20-million-euro “revamping” of a pre-existing plant in Alexandria.
