AUSTRALIA – Alenia wins orders worth 1.1 billion euros for 10 C-27J aircraft

The Australian Government has announced it will be buying 10 C-27J Spartan tactical transport aircraft produced by Alenia Aermacchi (Finmeccanica Group) at a cost of 1.4 billion Australian dollars (about 1.1 billion euros). The first plane should be delivered in 2015 and begin operating in 2016.

The Italian Ambassador in Canberra, Gianludovico de Martino, supported Alenia Aermacchi’s bid at all times with Australian interlocutors. The Ambassador also supported the C27J promotional initiatives during the Australian International Air Show at Avalon Airport and the static presentation of the aircraft in Canberra in March 2011.
