DIGITAL DIPLOMACY – Information and learning from the MFA blog

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has a new interactive online tool for learning and sharing information: the “ISDI learning corner – get your brain in motion” blog created by the Ministry’s Diplomatic Institute (Italian initials ISDI). The initiative was conceived to provide information and guidance on resources available online that are of interest and use to the MFA’s diplomats and administrative staff in their professional and personal development. The aim is also to share content with other institutes and with foreign diplomatic academies. Indeed, the site is in English.

The ISDI Learning Corner is divided into categories (books, communication, creativity, leadership etc). However, it is in many respects innovative for an “institutional” blog. Users can post comments on the content and suggest topics of interest. The site is also public: it can be visited and used by all, with no limitations on registering. The blog is part of a series of initiatives the ISDI is putting in place to use the new technologies, and in particular the social media, to best effect.
