Eventual disagreement among the 27 members on the sanctions in Syria would create “a paradoxical situation, given that the European embargo is intended to impact the regime”, said Minister Giulio Terzi, expressing Italy’s position on the renewal of the sanctions package to be discussed today in the EU Foreign Affairs Council. Our country, he said, is “in favour of a measure that will not allow the arms embargo to expire”. Terzi expects “27-member agreement on a decision that would also be a concrete signal of encouragement to the opposition coalition”.
