A group of 30 companies will be representing Italy at the China International Boat Show (CIBS) 2013, one of the most important boat shows in Asia. The fair, now at its 18th edition, will take place in Shanghai from 11 to 14 April. The ICE-Italian Trade Promotion Agency has organised an Italian pavilion measuring around 300 square metres that will host many historic names from the Italian boat and yacht sector, while other companies will have their own stands. The Italian presence has been organised by ICE and by our diplomatic network in China, both of which have raised local awareness of the quality of the “Made in Italy” brand in this sector.
A key role in exports
The Italian Embassy and Consulates have been liaising with Italian and Chinese companies to explore opportunities for bilateral collaboration. The CIBS will provide am ideal platform to further explore these opportunities. Foreign sales play a key role for Italian shipbuilders. In 2001, 79% of their output was exported, especially outside Europe. And this year the Shanghai Fair should repeat or even exceed the excellent visitor numbers achieved in 2012, when it attracted 450 exhibitors from 23 countries and 31,000 visitors (operators from the sector).
