Director Amin expressed his gratitude to Italy for its driving role since the Agency’s creation, and the hope that the excellent collaboration under way would expand, thanks not least to our country’s recent election to the IRENA Council. Finally, Dassù and Amin agreed to work together as EXPO 2015 nears, involving Italian firms in fostering the spread of clean energy and technologies throughout Africa, discussing the organization of an initial thematic workshop in 2014.

The Director Generalo f IRENA was also given a tour of the Farnesina Palace by Massimo Civitelli, chief of the Directorate General for Administration, IT and Communications, during which Amin was able to admire the MFA’s solar power plant, one of the top examples of its kinds and capable with its 184 panels, of making an environmental impact equal to 2000 trees annually. That Amin’s keen interest in the plant was piqued was amply clear from the many questions he had.
