The Italian Consulate in Shanghai has begun a project to map the “Italian Lifestyle in Shanghai”. The mapping exercise will identify art galleries, architectural practices, boutiques and dressmakers and all the other highlights of the “Made in Italy” brand in the Chinese city.
The aim of the project, inspired by the “Historical Map of Italians in Shanghai from 1608 to 1949”, is to “illustrate the relationship between the best of the Italian lifestyle today and the historic Italian presence in Shanghai”.
On 12 May 2013, the Italian Cultural Institute and the Italian Women’s Association in Shanghai organised a guided tour of the most significant “Italian spots” in the city. Another two tours – one in Chinese and one in English – are planned later this year. Read more, in Italian.
