Italy-Thailand, missione by Premier Shinawatra

Thai Premier Yingluck Shinawatra visited Italy from 10 to 13 September accompanied by his Ministers for Foreign Affairs, Science and Technology and Industry, as well as a large delegation of chairmen and CEOs of trade associations and businesses active in infrastructure, telecommunications, energy, fashion and automotive sectors. The scope of the mission was to strengthen relations between Italy and Thailand, give new impetus to economic partnerships and increase trade and investment opportunities.

Over 200 Italian business persons attended forums in Rome and Milan

The Thai delegation took part in economic forums organised in Rome by Confindustria and in Milan by Promos, which drew more than 200 Italian business persons and offered ample opportunity for meetings in the margins of the forums.

Participants in the forums, organised with the contribution of the Italian Foreign Ministry and Embassy in Bangkok, included Paolo Zenga (Confindustria), Riccardo Monti (Ice), Carlo Calenda (Deputy Minister for Economic Development), Mario Giro (Under-Secretary for Foreign Affairs) and Andrea Meloni (Director General for Country Promotion of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs). Also present were Italian Ambassador to Thailand Michelangelo Pipan and Ambassador-designate Nisio. Italy exports mainly machinery and chemical products to Thailand, along with a growing amount of consumer products, thanks to an expanding middle class that offers appealing prospects for the Made in Italy brand (wines, food products, apparel, design and fashion).
