According to the Industrial Production Index prepared by TurkStat, in September the monthly industrial production index rose by 5.8%, and was up 6.4% over the same month of the previous year. In the third quarter of the year, total output was up 3.7% on an annual basis and 1% over the previous quarter. The sector that most contributed was manufacturing, which registered annual growth of 8%. According to a communiqué by economy minister Zafer Çağlayan, ”although growth in Europe continues to be weak, we have noticed a slight increase in imports in the eurozone countries and this has been beneficial to Turkey and others”.
