Alvimedica, a Turkish firm operating in 40 countries around the world producing medical apparatus such as stents and angioplasty balloons purchased the Saluggia-based firm CID, an Italian firm that produces equipment for the cardiology sector. Alvimedica will close out 2013 with a turnover of 60 million euro and, with the acquisition of CID, the new group will employ 440 persons, including the 200 from the Italian firm. The firm’s turnover for 2014 is forecasted to be up by 50% as compared with 2013, making it the sector’s sixth largest in the world.
