Italy was present at Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2014 with a pavilion at the World Future Energy Summit (WFES). The “E-Qbo” project was a notable success. The fruit of a collaboration by RSE (the research company linked to energy services operator GSE) and T-Red, a start-up company, the E-Qbo is a an off-grid cube clad in photovoltaic panels. It accumulates renewable energy which it then supplies through 24-hour-a day services such as public lighting, free wi-fi or device recharging. Being off-grid, the cube is not tied to any position or location since it does not require a grid connection.
The WFES included a workshop organised by the ICE Trade Agency entitled “Italian excellence in the clean-tech sector at the World Future Energy Summit”. Participants included representatives of Confindustria, GSE and 9 Italian companies working in the clean-tech sector.
