USA: record Chrysler sales in January
“This has been a phenomenal month for us”, declared Fiat-Chrysler CEO Sergio Marchionne, commenting on Detroit’s January sales data, that showed an 8% increase (best January since 2008), well outdoing earlier forecasts of +5.4%. According to the Italo-Canadian executive, Chrysler sales have been “better that we had originally expected”. Fiat sales are also on the upswing (+29%), especially the Fiat 500 Abarth, which has been the best-seller of that family of models. Chrysler’s data are in clear contrast with those of General Motors and Ford, which have dropped.
