Marines: Ban Ki-moon concerned about risks for anti-piracy missions

“United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon is worried about the case of two Italian anti-piracy marines facing murder charges in India, and fears it could have some repercussions on anti-piracy security operations and the rule of law”. This was the comment by the United Nations spokesperson, Martin Nesirky, in response to questions from the ANSA news agency on the case. Nesirkysaid the Secretary General is concerned that the issue could increase tensions between two important friendly nations and UN members. He is also worried about the repercussions on common efforts and collaboration to protect international peace and security and on anti-piracy operations.
