Expo 2015 – Beirut to focus on hospitality

Lebanon’s participation in EXPO 2015 in Milan has been illustrated at an event in Beirut. As the Commissioner General, Simon Jabbour, explained, the chosen theme of “Cuisine, the Lebanese Art and Soul” places the accent on hospitality. This applies both to welcoming tourists and to celebrating the warmth and hospitality of the Lebanese people, who view food and cooking as a vital element in socialising and a way of celebrating life.

Lebanese showcase in the Bio-Mediterraneum cluster

Jabbour thanked Italy for the financial support we will be providing for Lebanon’s showcase in the “Bio-Mediterraneum” cluster at the universal exposition. Indeed, Rome will provide a free exhibition space of 125 square metres over 2 floors, with fittings and furnishings.

The Italian Ambassador in Beirut, Giuseppe Morabito, commented on the innovative aspects of the EXPO, including the cluster structure, which he described as a “revolution”. The Ambassador underscored Lebanon’s important input in planning the “Bio-Mediterraneum” cluster, which to date, at over 7,000 square meters, is the biggest project on the EXPO site.
