Responding to Sweden’s appeal to the European Commission Emergency Response Coordination Centre (ERCC), Italy intervened to help fight the worst forest fire in the country’s recent history. The flames devastated an area of over 15,000 hectares in central Sweden’s Vastmanland county, approximately 150 km northwest of Stockholm. Two Canadair planes from the Italian Civil Defence Department joined three from France to stop the spread of the blaze. Read more, in Italian.
