10 “Primo Approdo” events have been organised so far by the Italian Consulate General at the initiative of our Embassy in London, with 630 young Italians moving to England or Wales taking part.
The project, conceived by Ambassador Pasquale Terracciano, has provided invaluable guidance for young Italians taking their first steps in the UK, explained the Consul General in London, Massimiliano Mazzanti. Topics covered include employment (how to find a job, how to write a CV, tax and legal issues) and health (how the National Health Service works, how to find a GP etc). The home page of the Consulate General’s website provides a link to the “Manuale pratico di orientamento alla vita in Inghilterra/Galles”, drawn up by Consulate staff in collaboration with experts in the sectors concerned.
Other consulates general, in France, Germany and other countries, are interested in replicating the project, which is included in the Farnesina’s “best practice” initiatives. Read more, in Italian
