The State of Victoria will probably be building a new railway line in the region north of Melbourne. The initiative is included in the election manifestos of the 2 main parties taking part in the local government elections taking place in late November.
The new line would start at South Morang station, where the metropolitan line currently ends. It would travel on to Mernda, one of the country’s fastest growing suburbs. Works would include an 8-kilometre stretch of line in both directions and the construction of at least one new station, as well as the supporting infrastructure. The investment would amount to around 500 million euro. Source: infoMercatiEsteri
